Obituary of Joseph Herman Tidd

Tidd, Joseph Herman 84, of Bridgetown passed away January 15, 2015 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Seal Cove, Grand Mannan, NB he was a son of the late Floyd and Eileen (Vidito) Tidd. Joe had been employed at Britex for 33 ½ years as a Quality Foreman and formerly was employed at J.H. Hicks & Sons for 14 years. He spent 25 years with the Militia and during that time had 2 call outs one for 3 months and one for 10 months. Joe received his Canadian Decoration and his Centennial Medal. He was a member of the Bridgetown Lawn Bowling Club for 47 years and where he was greens keeper and also the Bridgetown Curling Club for 41 years where he has been a Life member of both. He was a member for 45 years of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.33 Bridgetown where he had been the Past President and Sargent at Arms. Joe was also a member of the Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years. Joe is survived by daughters, Veronica (Dave) Veinot of Deerfield, Yarmouth, Co., Gloria (Ray) Hudson of Youngs Cove, Theresa (Tom) Warburton of Yarmouth; son, Joseph Jr. (Vicki) of Digby; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; brothers: Charlie (Jean) of Bridgetown, Osborne “Ozzie” (Cathy) of New Minas, Billy (Shirley) of Lawrencetown; sister Thelma LeBlanc of Edmonton, AB. He was predeceased by his wife the former Marion Jessie Rogers, an infant son and an infant daughter; brothers, George, Paul and John and sister Ramona. Visitation will be held Thursday Feb 5, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. and the Royal Canadian Legion will hold their service at 7:00p.m. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m Friday Feb. 6, 2015 all from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown with Major Paul Blake officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. Donations in Joe’s memory may be sent to the Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department. or to a charity of one’s choice.
