Porter, Michael Robert- 74 of Bridgetown It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael Robert Porter June 5, 2015. Born down the street from his family home in Bridgetown, Michael was a colorful character who had a life filled with adventure. In his childhood he enjoyed playing music with his maternal grandmother Emily Connell, with whom he was very close. This love of music carried through his life. An avid guitar player, song writer and singer and country music fan, he spent many great times with friends and family entertaining them with his singing and playing. He had a great laugh and was always the life of the party. He loved spending time in the woods with another gentle soul, his father Bob, fishing and rabbit hunting and going over to the shore together. Mike was a gentle man who shared a love of cats with his mother Barney. He was always looking out for the stray ones and giving them loving homes. Michael was pre-deceased by his beloved son Timmy (Timothy Michael Porter) and this was the great sadness he carried. He was also pre-deceased by his lovely parents Barney and Bob (Margaret and Robert) Porter. He is survived by daughters, the apple of his eye, Angela Quinn (Tony), Halifax, Alisa Measham (Mark) Sackville, grandchildren Shannon and Paddy (Patrick) Quinn, Halifax and Tyler and Jason Porter, Ontario. Also left to grieve with his family and friends are Elizabeth Mills and Tom Halsall both of whom he had special bonds and relationships with. There will be a service, Celebration of Life, Sunday June 14 at Walkers Funeral Home in Spryfield at 1pm followed by a reception. A second gathering will take place, 1-3pm June 21 at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. He will be laid to rest with Timmy, Barney and Bob (his son and Mom and Dad) at the Riverside Cemetery in Bridgetown privately as per his request. Special thanks to his family physician, Dr. Ken Buchholz who cared for him throughout the years. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA.
