Obituary of Charles Edward Bower

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
I Charles Edward Bower, died July 17, 2015 after a long 4+ years battle with ALS. It was quite the journey. When I was first officially diagnosed with ALS, April 2011, I made the commitment to myself that I would be in acceptance. It was my intention to keep my dignity, remain conscious, keep my mind at peace, and be overflowing with gratitude for the life I have lived. I wish to believe that I succeeded and I want to thank all of those who played some kind of role. I leave behind with a heavy heart, my beloved bride Pauline, my children Dan Bower (Darlene), Pat Bower Zeggelaar (Jack), Cindy MacKinnon (Peter), and Terry Murray-Arnold (Karin), my wonderful grand children Emily, Julia, Stephanie, Sam, Annika, Linnea and Magnus, and all of my many friends whose lives were entwined with mine in our journey towards the mysteries that this life can unfold. Family and friends you were all a part of the fabric of my life. Thank you and I will miss you all. Last but not least I wish to give a great thanks to my wonderful caregivers who allowed me to stay in my home-beautiful Ledgehill, John, Scott, Marty, Elizabeth, Richard, I could have not done it without your loving care. Thanks to Dr. Lori Burgess and the Palliative Care Team and to the VON. Also thanks to the ALS Society. Without their support I would not have been able to have the quality of life I did with this disease. A celebration of life will be held August 7, 2015 from 3-7 p.m. at St. John's United Church, 3360 Truck 2, Fall River, N.S. Donations in my memory may be sent to the ALS Society. On line condolences may be sent to www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
