Mary “Maureen” Quinn (McMahon) – 93, of Halifax, NS. It is with sadness we announce the passing of Maureen Quinn, August 8, 2015. She was born in County Clare, Ireland, one of fourteen children, ten of whom survived infancy. She left home, with her twin sister Margaret, to train as Registered Nurses in London, England. She travelled to Canada by sea with a young family in 1954 from London, spending time in BC, Halifax and Ottawa before settling in North Sydney, NS. She spent thirty-five wonderful years in Kingston, Ontario when she remarried Ron Street, who predeceased her. Her final few years she returned to Halifax to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Maureen was proud to be a Registered Nurse and worked for over 35 years before retiring in 1985. She was life-long friends with many nurses she met over the years. A lively lady, with a skip in her step, she possessed a sharp sense of Irish wit, which she had until the end. She was always ready to welcome you with scones and tea. Maureen is survived by her sister Elizabeth Carley, daughter Patricia Dauphinee (Robert), son Anthony “Tony” Quinn (Angela), grandchildren Liam, Rebecca (great-grandson William), Evan, Nicole, Shannon and Paddy. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Ellen McMahon, brothers John, Michael, Matthew, sisters Bridget, Nan, Eileen, Margaret and Kathleen. Cremation has taken place. Her final wish was to go back to Ireland with her Mother, and a service will take place at a later date in Ireland, where she will be buried with her parents and siblings. “I could not stay another day, To love, to laugh, to work or play; Tasks left undone must stay that way. And if my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy.”
