WIGHTMAN (LENT), Jane Kathleen Jane was born October 25, 1939 in Digby, N.S. and passed away peacefully early in the morning on September 19, 2015 while visiting her daughter, Carrie, in Alberta. She was the only child of the late Walter and Edna (Graham) Lent of Bear River, Nova Scotia. Jane received her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics and Education from Acadia University in 1960 and taught for a few years in Hants East Rural and Bridgetown Regional High Schools. Jane was a very active member of her church, Gordon Providence United in Bridgetown. Jane was a member of the Bridgetown Lawn Bowls & Quoits Club and represented Nova Scotia at the Canadian Lawn Bowls Championships 15 times over a 17 year span, winning the Canadian Championship in 1985. She enjoyed many activities with friends in Bridgetown including “Wednesday Group”. Jane was an avid reader and a consistent patron of the Bridgetown Library. She was an exceptional seamstress and cook and often served as “tech support” for her daughters. She loved to travel with her beloved husband, John, to many exotic destinations including Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, England, Holland, the Caribbean, Italy, Greece and Alaska. Jane is survived and will be very much missed by her husband of 55 years, John, Bridgetown, NS; daughters Catherine (Kelvin) Dion, Lucasville, NS; E. Anne (Charles) Banks, Falmouth, NS; Carrie (Jason Griffiths) Sherwood Park, AB; and grandchildren, Eric, Jonathan, Nicole and Anna. Cremation has already taken place and in accordance with Jane’s wishes there will be no visitation or formal funeral. Internment will take place in the family plot in Bear River, NS. A remembrance service will be planned in the future in Bridgetown, NS. Donations in memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
