Obituary of William Amos Geddes

Geddes, William “ Bill” Amos, 89 of Bridgetown passed away October 30, 2015 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Truro he was a son of the late Alexander “Sandy” and Alice (Gahan) Geddes. Bill was a member of the Merchant Navy and the Canadian Navy and was a gunner on the Norwegian Supply ship the Polarsol during World War II. He later became a bookkeeper for C.B. Robinson in Kentville, he then moved to Bridgetown and worked for J.H. Hicks and Sons, Moir Motors and Everett & Smith Ltd where he worked for 36 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, reading and smoking his pipe, and he served as a Town Councillor in Bridgetown. He is survived by daughter Constance (Milledge) Sheridan of Bridgetown, sisters: Beryl Gay of Truro, Heather White of Newfoundland, Betty Lindsay of Vancouver; grandchildren Lynn (Eric) Sheridan-Davis of New Jersey, Vanessa (Griff) Peters of California, Keith Geddes of Calgary; 5 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Sharon Spaargaren of High River, AB., several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his wife Joan Mae Holmes, son Christopher. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 3-7 p.m. Sunday November 8, 2015 at Bill’s home, 461 Granville Street. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday November 9, 2015 from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown with Rev. Gordon Delaney officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
